Multiple trademarks registered as “DEEPSEEK” have been rejected by the Chinese Trademark Office in accordance with the law

On February 24, 2025, the China National Intellectual Property Administration issued a notice rejecting 63 applications for malicious rush registration of trademarks, including No. 82848449 “DEEPSEEK”. The specific situation is as follows:

Subject of registration: There are six companies suspected of registering the “DEEPSEEK” trademark.

Attention grabbing image: The DeepSeek artificial intelligence big model developed by Hangzhou DeepQuest Artificial Intelligence Basic Technology Research Co., Ltd. has rapidly swept the world since the release of the third-generation model V3 at the end of 2024. Individual enterprises and individuals have submitted trademark registration applications under the name “DEEPSEEK” or related graphics of this large model, and some agencies are suspected of providing illegal services with obvious intentions of “riding on hot topics” and seeking improper benefits.

Legal basis: This rejection action is based on Article 4 of the Trademark Law, which states “malicious registration not intended for use”.
