In April 2024, Tianjin Port in Tianjin, China, launched a new direct shipping route to South Africa. Departing from Tianjin, the route calls at domestic ports including Qingdao and Shanghai before proceeding to South African ports such as the Port of Coega (Ngqura) and the Port of Durban. The service deploys 12 vessels of 140,000-ton class, operating on a weekly sailing schedule to South Africa. It establishes stable direct connections between Tianjin Port and the South African ports of Coega and Durban. The shortest voyage from Tianjin to South African ports takes merely 40 days, significantly enhancing transportation efficiency while offering notable cargo compatibility and flexibility.
